Lady Gaga Kritik Malaysia

Lady Gaga criticises Malaysia lyric censorship

Pop superstar Lady Gaga has urged Malaysians to protest the censorship of lyrics in her song that encourage the acceptance of homosexuality.

The Associated Press reported last week that her gay anthem Born This Way has been censored by radio stations in predominantly Muslim Malaysia because its lyrics promote acceptance of gay people.

As a result, Malaysian radio stations were playing edited versions of the track to replace the lyrics: 'No matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgendered life, I'm on the right track, baby.'

And now the 24-year-old has criticised the censorship during a visit to the Google headquarters in Mountain View, California, yesterday.

She said: 'What I would say is for all the young people in Malaysia that want those words to be played on the radio, it is your job and it is your duty as young people to have your voices heard.

'You must do everything that you can if you want to be liberated by your society. You must call, you must not stop, you must protest peaceably.'

The radio stations have said they are being cautious as the Malaysian government forbids 'offensive' material.
